"Don't Just Get By... GET BETTER!"


A critical step in making your fitness vision a reality is understanding the importance of change - first in your mind, and then in your day to day actions. How you think influences how you act, which ultimately determines what you get as a result.
Therefore, different (better) results require different (better) actions, which are fueled by different (better) thoughts. It's pretty simple:
Think, Act, Get. Got it? OK, "TAG, You're it!"
My first suggestion is to forego any/all 'something-for-nothing' approaches that "promise" to improve your current state with little/no effort on your part. No matter what popular magazines, television personalities, or billion dollar businesses promise:
REAL RESULTS require REAL WORK - Period!
The bottom line? If you want more, GET BETTER!


You will find the definition of 'evolution' below. Back in the spring of 1998, I decided to leave the "corporate world" of fitness and start my own business as an independent fitness professional. And, to celebrate my newfound freedom, I symbolically launched a new outdoor training program (Boot Camp) as a way to teach others how to "escape" regular training routines and begin thinking/moving outside the normal gym box...
One night I rented several military-themed movies including 'Full-Metal Jacket', 'Platoon', and yes, 'G.I. Jane'! Hoping to glean a few exercise and one-liner ideas that I could use in my program, there was a scene in the movie 'G.I. Jane' that spawned the entire EVOLUTIONS business name and training philosophy.
It was during one of the intense and brutal "weed out the weeds" Boot Camp sessions, where the drill instructor asks the weary recruits a simple question -- just before another seemingly endless beat-down session begins: "Are you ready for a new evolution?"
There it was... That single line from the movie: A simple, but incredibly powerful question, strategically positioned during a crucial "make or break" moment... And, how a recruit responded verbally/physically would ultimately change the course of their lives -- forever!
While you may not be interested or subjected to a BootCamp-style "beating" on which your ultimate fate depends, you could and should ask that very same question of yourself each and every day you wake up.
"Are YOU Ready for a New EVOLUTION?"
As you read the definition below, you'll notice words such as "gradual process", "changes", "different", "complex", and "better" -- all of which are vital points to ponder for personal fitness success.
(e-vo-lu-tion) n. a gradual process in which something changes into a different and usually more complex or better form.
As you move forward in your fitness pursuits, do yourself a favor and commit this word/definition to memory, for it will help keep you on the "straight and narrow", mentally and physically. Remember, ALL long-term success is created and sustained through a process. For things to change, WE must change. For things to get better, WE must get better!

There are absolutely NO LIMITS as to what you can achieve, where you can go, or who you can ultimately become, IF you can get a firm grip on "the bigger picture". I appreciate Rick Warren's great aerial view of life from an eternal perspective in his book, 'The Purpose Driven Life':
"The purpose of your life is far greater than your own personal fulfillment, peace of mind or even your happiness. It's far greater than your family, your career, or even your wildest dreams and ambitions. If you want to know why you were placed on this planet, you must begin with God. You were born by His purpose and for His purpose".
From my own experience, there is joy and satisfaction awaiting those who are willing to forego the "good" (immediate, self-serving, short-lived and generally empty pursuits) to diligently seek their "purpose" for a far greater reward. Once the "me, myself and I" focus is removed, we can begin to live a more meaningful, fulfilled, and significant life.
It is my personal hope and mission our experience together returns you to family, career, and life with greater confidence, a sense of accomplishment, contagiously enthused, rejuvenated... evolved.
